Baker's Profile: Teresa Kemp

Teresa Kemp

Teresa Kemp, a church secretary in Charleston, Indiana, had long dreamed of traveling to California's Napa Valley. "My husband makes wine at home and is an avid cyclist, so we always wanted to make a trip to Napa," she says. "But we never thought we’d actually have the chance to go."

Teresa's dream came true in May, when she came to California as one of five grand-prize winners of Domino® Sugar’s Sweetest Napa Valley Getaway Sweepstakes. During their five-day culinary adventure, Teresa and the other winners were treated to the best tours, food, wine and—of course!—desserts that Napa Valley has to offer. The high point: a private cooking class with TV chef and cookbook author Nick Stellino, who joined the sweepstakes winners at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, where he cooked a meal and shared a cooking tips and techniques. "He was so warm and friendly," Teresa says. The warmth extended beyond the class, she added: "Nick and his wife, Nanci, joined us for a good portion of the trip. He really wanted to make sure we had a wonderful experience."

Now that Teresa is back home, she’s enjoying her true passion: baking. A longtime fan of Domino® Sugar, she remembers scooping out Domino® when she baked with her mother. At the many potlucks she attends, Teresa always gets requests for her dessert specialties, especially her Derby Bars, made with chocolate chips, pecans, and Domino® Light Brown Sugar.
