Follow our { Sugar
Cookie } recipe, then use bone-shaped cookie cutters to make some fun
dinosaur bone cookies.

Cut out large palm tree leaves from construction paper and hang up pictures of
scary-looking dinosaurs. The bigger the pictures the better!
Cut out dinosaur footprints from brown craft paper to tape to the floor. You
can even start the footprints outside, trailing up the walkway into the house.
Make signs out of construction paper to put by your front door reading, DANGER:
DINO X-ING or NO TRESPASSING: TRICERATOPS DIG or DINO HUNT STARTS HERE.
Make boulders by wrapping balloons with paper-maché. Paint them in
shades of brown and gray. Once they're painted and dry you can draw
"fossils" on them with markers.
Tape a large sheet of brown craft paper along a wall and give the kids red and
black crayons. Then let each take a turn at making caveman drawings that tell a
story without words. At the end of the party you can put the mural in a time
capsule to open up next year.
Following a side view drawing of a simple dinosaur skeleton, sketch each bone
shape onto white poster paper, then cut out the bones and spread them around
the room or the yard. Let the kids gather the bones then reconstruct the
skeleton on the floor like a giant puzzle, using the drawing as a guide. You
may want to keep the backbone and tail bones as one piece. Once the puzzle is
finished you can tape it together and hang it from a tree or on a wall.

Hide lots of miniature plastic dinosaurs in a sandbox. The kids then take turns
using shovels to dig around for dinos, and the one who finds the most wins.
After each person's turn, put the dinosaurs back so everyone will have an equal
chance.
Blow up several balloons and place in a pile, then surround with leaves and
foliage to create a dino nest. The guests take turns running to the nest to
collect as many eggs as they can and carry them back to the other side of the
room or yard. But they have to hurry--mother dino will be back soon! Each
player has only thirty seconds, and the one who carries back the most eggs wins
a prize.
