It's a Jungle in Here
Hang green streamers from the ceiling, then cut leaf shapes from green construction paper to tape onto the streamers.
Creature Feature
Gather stuffed animals and plastic frogs to place around the room and tables.
Easy Being Green
Bring in large potted plants that you may have in other rooms in the house. Cut out photos of parrots and other exotic birds, then add cardboard backings and place them in the plants.
Activities
Scary Faces
Buy a few face painting kits and let the kids put animal faces on each other. The paintings can be as simple as white and black stripes for a zebra or an orange face with whiskers and stripes for a tiger.
What Big Ears You Have
After they've painted their faces they can then create animal ears to complete the look. Have them cut out construction paper bands that fit around their heads, then tape on animal ears they fashion from construction paper and decorate with markers.
Game Suggestions
Yummy Vines
Using a large sewing needle, thread a string through several marshmallows, then hang the marshmallow vines from the ceiling. With their hands behind their backs, players try to eat along the vines as high as they can.
Monkey in the Middle
Try playing this classic game using an oversized balloon with a monkey face drawn on it.
Safari So Good
Hide several small plastic jungle animal figures throughout the room, then let the kids hunt around for them.
Party Favors
- Make jungle survival kits by tying a string on a brown bag to make a handle, then filling with animal crackers, animal-shaped fruit gummies and a pair of toy binoculars. The kids can also take home the animal figurines they found in the safari hunt. Decorate the outside of the bag with pictures of animals from magazines or with animal stickers.
