Cookie Bouquet
  • Holiday Sugar Cookie Recipe:
  • 1 cup - butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup - firmly packed Domino® Light Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cup - Domino® Granulated Sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 tablespoons - milk
  • 2 teaspoons - vanilla extract
  • 4 cups - all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons - baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon - salt
  • Lollipop sticks, wooden skewers or wooden Popsicle sticks
  • Decorating Icing:
  • 1 - (1 lb.) pkg. Domino® Confectioners Sugar (approx. 3 3/4 cups)
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons - water or milk
  • Assorted colored sugars, sprinkles, small candies, green fruit roll-ups.

Instructions

Beat butter and sugars together in large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt in small bowl; gradually add to sugar mixture. Cover and refrigerate dough 3 to 4 hours until chilled.

Preheat oven to 375°F. On a well-floured surface, roll out half of dough at a time to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out cookies using 2 1/2-3-inch flower or round cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Insert lollipop sticks lengthwise 1 inch through base of each flower. Press so that tips of sticks are embedded in cookies.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned at edges. Cool cookies on cookie sheet 2 minutes. Remove cookies to wire racks; cool completely. Prepare Decorating Icing (see recipe below). Decorate as desired. Tie a piece of green fruit roll-up under cookie flower to form leaves if desired.

Decorating Icing: In large bowl, combine confectioners' sugar with water or milk until mixture is desired consistency. Place cookies on wire rack over pan or cookie sheet. Spoon icing evenly over tops of cookies. Decorate as desired.

Tip: Soak wooden skewers in water colored with green food coloring for 20 minutes for green stem look.

Makes about 4-5 dozen cookies.

Quick Tip

For a special gift idea, place several flower cookies on a large doily. Tie them in a bouquet using colorful ribbon. Yield of cookies will vary depending on size of cookie cutter used,
