Petit Four De-lites

Ingredients List

Petit Four De-lites
  • 1 - (16 oz) frozen pound cake
  • 1 - (1 lb.) pkg. Domino® Confectioners Sugar (approx. 3 3/4 cups)
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons - water or milk
  • Food coloring
  • Candied violets, roses, sprinkles, and/or flower icing decorations

Instructions

With a long, sharp knife, trim the rounded hump off the pound cake so the top is flat. Trim the crusts off the sides. Slice the cake in half horizontally, then crosswise into 1-inch squares (or cut with cookie cutters in rounds, stars or other simple shapes). Place cake pieces on wire rack over pan or cookie sheet.

In large bowl, slowly add water or milk to confectioners' sugar until mixture is desired consistency. Add food coloring and tint to desired color .

Spoon icing evenly over tops and sides of cake pieces. Icing that drips off can be reused. Decorate as desired.

Makes 24 petits fours.

Quick Tip

Don't bother defrosting the pound cake. It's easier to trim the cake while it is still frozen.
