Valentine Message Sugar Cookies
Ingredients List
- 1 cup - Domino® Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup - butter or margarine, softened
- 1 - egg
- 1 tablespoon - vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups - all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon - baking soda
- Additional Domino® Granulated Sugar
- Decorating Icing (see below)
Instructions
In large bowl, mix sugar and butter. Beat in egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Mix in flour and baking soda. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour until chilled.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
On well floured surface, roll out one-third of dough at a time, to 1/8 inch thickness. Using a 3 1/2-inch heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and sprinkle with additional granulated sugar.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. Cool on wire rack. Prepare Decorating Icing.
Decorating Icing: In large bowl, combine 1 (lb.) pkg. Domino® Confectioners Sugar (approx. 3 3/4 cups) with 4-6 tablespoons water or milk, until mixture is desired consistency. Place in a plastic resealable bag. With scissors, snip a very small piece off one corner of the bag. Decorate cookies with valentine messages by squeezing icing through bag.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
Quick Tip
To chill dough quickly, place in freezer for 30 minutes.
