Watermelon Pyramids
Watermelon Plays an Unexpected Role in this Dessert That is Actually Mostly Fresh Fruit
Ingredients List
Fruit Pyramids
- 8 - (1-inch) slices of watermelon
- 4 - (1-inch) slices pound cake
- 4 - kiwifruit, peeled and cut into 1-inch slices
- Quick Caramel Sauce (see recipe below)
- dark and white chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Quick Caramel Sauce
- 4 tbsp. - butter
- 1 1/2 cups - Domino® Brown Sugar, firmly packed
- 1 tsp. - vanilla
- 1/4 cup - heavy cream
Instructions
Fruit Pyramids
Cut four 4x4-inch and four 2x2-inch squares of watermelon. Cut four 3x3-inch square slices of pound cake. Cut four 1x1-inch squares of kiwifruit. On each of four dessert plates, place one slice of the largest watermelon squares. Then, on each square place a slice of pound cake, and then a smaller watermelon square. Top pyramid with slice of kiwifruit. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over pyramids and garnish with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately.
Quick Caramel Sauce
In 1- or 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Stir in vanilla and cream. Bring to a simmer and adjust heat to maintain a slow simmer. Simmer 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
