Agave Chocolate Chip Cookies

Adding agave to chocolate chip cookies gives them a moist, cake-like texture.


approx. 4 dozen cookies


  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Domino® Organic Blue Agave Nectar Amber Syrup
  • 3/4 cup Domino® Organic Blue Agave Nectar Amber Syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips


Preheat oven to 375°F. Prepare ungreased cookie sheet.

Beat butter, vanilla, and both blue agave nectars in a medium bowl. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well. Slowly add in flour, baking soda and salt. Continue to beat until fully combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Using a tablespoon, drop dough onto prepared cookie sheet, 2 inches apart.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until a light golden brown. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


Cookies made with agave nectar have a more cake-like texture, but with no loss of flavor.
