Gorditas de Azucar

Gorditas de Azúcar

A combination between muffins and pancakes, these sweet gorditas make for a deliciously fluffy two-in-one breakfast that you can top with jam, chocolate spread or Dulce de Leche.

30 gorditas

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup Domino® Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten

Butter and flour a sheet pan; set aside.

In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cinnamon. Add butter and work with a fork or hands until well combined and butter bits are the size of a pea. Add milk and eggs; stir to form a doughy consistency.

Chill dough for 30 minutes. If dough is too sticky to roll out, chill until firm.

With floured hands, roll dough into 1-½ inch balls. Place on prepared pan.

Roll out one dough ball at a time between two pieces of parchment paper or floured plastic wrap to form a 3- to 4-inch circle. Set finished circles aside until ready to cook.

Heat a nonstick pan on medium low heat.

Cook gorditas 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Move to a separate baking sheet until all have been cooked. Serve warm with Dulce de Leche as a topping.
