Grab 'n' Go Snack Mix

Add nuts, chocolate chips, crackers and more to this simple, hearty snack mix.

YIELDS

about 2 cups snack mix

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup rolled oats, old-fashioned or quick-cooking
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed Domino® Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup (2/3 stick) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/3 cup nuts (any kind), coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground

INSTRUCTIONS

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well.

Cook in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat stirring constantly, 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown. Using a spatula, spread onto ungreased baking sheet to cool.

Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.

Variations

Peanut Crunch Mix: Prepare mix using 1/3 cup chopped peanuts for nuts; omit cinnamon. Cool completely and toss with mini-pretzels and popcorn.

Dried Fruit Mix: Prepare mix as directed; cool. Toss with chopped dried apricots, dried cherries and raisins.

Summer Fun Snack Mix: Prepare mix as directed; cool. Toss with candy-covered chocolates or chocolate chips and cheese-flavored crackers.

Hold the Nuts Mix: Prepare mix, omitting nuts; cool completely. Toss with toasted oats cereal and chow mein noodles.

QUICK TIP

Snack Mix may also be prepared in the oven. Spread oat mixture on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 5 minutes. Let cool.
