Mother's Day Cookie Bouquet

Skip the florist and bake Mom a bouquet of the sweetest flowers she's ever seen.


2 to 4 dozen cookies



  • lollipop sticks, wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup Domino® Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • 2 (1 lb.) pkgs. Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 12 to 15 tablespoons water or milk
  • 1 to 2 drops food coloring, as desired
  • colored sprinkles and Royal Icing (for additional decorating)



To make green sticks, place wooden craft sticks or skewers into a rectangular baking pan filled with cool water. Soak the sticks for 20 minutes. Drain water from pan and remove sticks.

In a small bowl, add 1 teaspoon green food coloring gel to 1 cup warm water. Stir to combine, and pour into baking pan; add sticks. Soak for 2 minutes. Remove green sticks and pat dry with paper towel. Set onto parchment paper to dry completely for 1 hour, turning over after 30 minutes. 

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until creamy. With mixer on low, add eggs and vanilla, until just blended.

In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture, mixing until well blended. Divide dough in half, and shape each section into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap, and chill 1 to 2 hours, or until firm enough to handle.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare ungreased cookie sheet. 

On a lightly floured surface, roll each half of chilled dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into flower shapes with 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters. Insert sticks lengthwise 1 inch through base of each cookie. Tips of sticks should be embedded in cookies. Place a small scrap of dough over stick to secure. Place on prepared cookie sheet.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes, or until edges are firm and bottoms lightly browned. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool completely. 


In large bowl, combine sugar with water or milk until mixture is desired consistency. Place cookies on wire rack over pan or cookie sheet. Spoon icing evenly over tops of cookies. Decorate as desired, using sprinkles and Royal Icing.
