Shortbread Fries

Shortbread Fries

Swap the drive-through dinner for a homemade dessert with an order of these adorable shortbread fries.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Domino® Granulated Sugar plus additional for sprinkling
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, with mixer on medium speed, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add flour and salt; mix on low speed. Dough will be crumbly.

Remove bowl from mixer stand and form dough into a ball. This may take a few tries. Cut dough ball in half; set aside one half.

Roll out remaining dough into a 2/3-inch thick square; trim sides with a knife to straighten. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut dough into 1/4-inch wide strips. Cut strips in half lengthwise to form "French fries."

Using a spatula, lift the dough fries and place onto prepared cookie sheet approximately 1/2-inch apart. The dough does not spread much, so the fries can be close together. Sprinkle additional sugar on fries. Repeat with second half of dough.

Bake on the middle rack in the oven for 10 minutes. Cool completely before removing from cookie sheet. Store in rows in a flat container so they do not break.

Serve with cupcake burgers, if desired.
