Simple Glaze

This glaze can easily be transformed into any flavor for topping donuts, cupcakes, cookies and more!


about 2 cups glaze


  • 1 (1 lb.) pkg. (approx. 3 3/4 cups) Domino® Confectioners Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


In a large bowl, combine sugar with water, adding additional water by teaspoonfuls until desired consistency, up to a total of 6 tablespoons of liquid.

This glaze goes well with a variety of baked goods.


Lemon Flavored Glaze: Substitute lemon juice for water; add 1 teaspoon lemon extract. If desired, add 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest and a drop of yellow food coloring.

Orange Flavored Glaze: Substitute orange juice for water; add 1 teaspoon orange extract. If desired, add 1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest and a drop of orange food coloring.

Coffee Flavored Glaze: Substitute extra strong, cooled coffee for water.

Almond Flavored Glaze: Add 2 teaspoons of almond extract.

Chocolate Flavored Glaze: Add 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. Add more water or milk, a teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency.

Chocolate Fudge Glaze: Add 4 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate. For a deeper, richer chocolate, add 1 to 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, to taste.
