Welcome Home Sugar Cookies
about 3 dozen cookies
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup Domino® Granulated Sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- colored sprinkles or sugar (optional decoration)
In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until creamy. With mixer on low, add eggs and vanilla, until just blended.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture, mixing until well blended.
Divide dough in half; shape each section into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap, and chill 1 to 2 hours, or until firm enough to handle.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare ungreased cookie sheet.
On a lightly floured surface, roll each half of chilled dough to 1/4-inch thick. Cut into shapes with 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters. Place on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes, or until edges are firm and bottoms lightly browned. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate with Simple Glaze and colored sprinkles or sugar, if desired.
