Wonderful Red Cabbage
6 to 8 servings
- 3/4 cup onion, chopped
- 6 tablespoons bacon drippings or butter
- 3/4 cup firmly packed Domino® Light Brown Sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 6 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- 1 whole medium to large red cabbage, shredded
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
In an extra-large skillet or Dutch oven, sauté onion in bacon drippings or butter 4 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, except cabbage, and bring to a boil. Add cabbage and toss to combine.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 to 45 minutes, until cabbage is tender. If necessary, add additional water while cooking.
